[ASD × ADHD × My Diet] How Cutting Out “Wheat Flour” Made My Tantrums (Rage Mode) Disappear Like Magic 🚨✨
Donuts made with “wheat flour” and fried in “oil”… they’re so good, right?
Heavily coated in sugar—pure bliss…
In my case, though, once that blissful moment ends and a little time passes…
“Rage Mode Activated!! 🚨” ( ´∀` )
Seriously, a switch just flips. No, really—it’s a “snap mode” where I lose all self-control to a level that’s no laughing matter. It’s crazy (lol).

⚡ What My “Rage Mode” Looked Like
The slightest thing sets me off—I just “snap!”
- Snapping at chopsticks: Even if I’m trying to stay calm, if my chopsticks fall over, I snap and yell, “You bastard!!!!” (lol)
- Chain-reaction anger: I get even angrier at myself for dropping them, and then angry at myself for being angry (lol).
- Collateral damage: Everyone around me gets dragged into it ( ´∀` )
I realize I’m “losing it,” but I just can’t stop (lol). I’ve tried anger management, but this was on a whole other level.
Well, it’s what you’d call a “tantrum.”
And in my case, the ultimate trigger was definitely “wheat.”
💡 After Cutting Out Wheat, I “Stopped Losing My Temper”
Ever since I started living a wheat-free life, I’ve seriously—no kidding—stopped losing my temper.
“Come on, it can’t possibly be just wheat, right?”
“Maybe you just aren’t disciplined enough?”
I used to think those things myself, and I went through a lot of trial and error. But when I was on the verge of death and decided to change my diet to fix my body’s foundation, the simplest answer turned out to be “cutting out wheat.” As a side effect, I completely stopped getting angry!
🔍 Why Does Wheat Trigger Rage? (My Personal Analysis)
I researched like crazy to understand what was happening. Here is my personal conclusion:
① Wheat flour affects the small intestine's digestive balance
↓
② Triggers immune system dysfunction & autonomic nervous system breakdown
↓
③ Blood sugar spikes & crashes (causing sudden drowsiness)
↓
④ Sharp surges in stress hormones & adrenaline → RAGE MODE / TANTRUM!
While everyone is affected by diet to some extent, for those with developmental conditions (ASD/ADHD), these fluctuations feel like a roller coaster ride. In my case, it manifested as becoming easily irritable (tantrums).
🥗 “ASD Personal Diet Rules” (Even a Lazy Person Can Do)
I started managing my diet to lay the foundation for improving intractable health issues. Here are my main replacement rules:
🚫 Basic Substitutions
- No wheat flour ➡️ Buckwheat flour (Juwarisoba), potato starch, rice flour
- No refined sugar ➡️ Brown sugar, beet sugar, cane sugar
- No low-quality oils ➡️ Cold-pressed olive oil, coconut oil, castor oil
🏯 My Super-Simple Golden Rule
Trying to calculate everything (like alkaline diets or small vs. large intestine care) was way too much work (lol). So I settled on this:
“Avoid Western-style food! Eat simple, plant-based meals based on ‘pure’ Japanese cuisine!”
That’s it (lol). It’s super rough, but surprisingly, this actually works 👍
💡 Question: Aren’t Udon and Somen “Pure Japanese Cuisine”?
You might wonder, “What about udon and somen?” (Udon served when you’re feeling sick… I’ve always hated it… ( ´∀` ))
Here’s a surprising fact: Udon and somen didn’t become widespread among common people until the Edo period. Wheat was primarily cultivated as a famine-prevention crop, so it’s different from traditional “pure” Japanese cuisine.
Therefore, in my household, they are strictly off the menu! (lol)
🥩 “Nutritional Priorities” for the Human Body
Based on orthomolecular (nutritional therapy) concepts and personal experience, here is my personal ranking of what the body needs most:
| Priority | Nutrient | Key Note / Tip |
| 1st | Protein (Amino Acids) | The most vital foundation for mind and body |
| 2nd | Water or Fats | Focus on essential fatty acids |
| 3rd | Sugars (Carbohydrates) | Focus on naturally producing/metabolizing sugar from veggies rather than eating pure sugar |
| 4th | Essential Minerals | Sodium, Potassium, Calcium, Magnesium, etc. |
| 5th | Vitamins | Vitamin B complex, Magnesium, and Iron are essential for my mental health |
🥦 Pro-Tip: When in doubt, eat Edamame!
Conclusion: If you base your diet on protein (like chicken), you naturally get the fats you need. Add vegetables, water, and high-quality salt, and you have a solid foundation!
As someone who is lazy, I follow advice from a nutritional doctor: “Eat edamame!” (lol).
Fun fact: Edamame contains NMN (nicotinamide mononucleotide), a famous anti-aging compound, ranking pretty high among all foods!
🌈 It’s Worth Taking a Chance on “Reproducibility by Chance”
This is strictly my personal experience, and it’s not a one-size-fits-all solution for everyone. But seriously… are there really any harmful side effects to reevaluating your diet?
Even if modern science hasn’t fully proven every detail of the gluten-free ASD diet yet, when I talk to parents and individuals with developmental challenges, there is definitely “reproducibility through chance.”
🚀 Let’s Give It a Try Today!
If you are struggling with tantrums, intense emotional outbursts, or chronic health issues, why not try 1 month of:
- No sugar (or minimal sugar)
- Traditional Japanese cuisine
- No wheat flour
For me (ASD + ADHD), this was reeeeeally tough at first. But I truly believe it was worth it.
A small action today can completely change your future. Why not start with tonight’s dinner and your next grocery trip?
